Prior to birth infants begin their language and movement development. Montessori Nido classrooms provide an environment focussed on the development of secure attachments, Movement and Language.

The Educator is specifically trained to provide experiences and support the individual development of each child at every stage.

Observation is of utmost importance in the Nido. It is through this observation that the Educator can determine the child’s developmental stage and thus provide the appropriate experiences to support the child’s needs across these intense periods of development.

From birth the child takes in and observes how we do things. They are a sensorial learner. Impressions from their environment are continually coming into the child which forms the mind and builds the person they will become.

Every child has an absorbent mind until about the age of 6 years. The child will watch the mother/father in the kitchen, the table being set, dishes washed, basically observing daily living.

The Nido creates an environment where they see the same things happening and can help.
